
Email CarlosDr. Sandoval currently serves as rector of Saint Simon’s Episcopal Church. He is also a physician and earned his medical degree from the Catholic University Mater et Magistra in the Dominican Republic. After graduating from medical school, he worked as a lay Hispanic missioner in the Diocese of Connecticut. He was then invited to work in Quito, Ecuador as a medical missionary, where he finished his theological studies, was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church, and worked for the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health as a primary care physician. Dr. Sandoval returned to Miami and completed his psychiatry residency at UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital and took a position as psychiatrist for The Courtelis Center for Psychosocial Oncology, becoming director in 1998. After ten years in this position, he went into private practice in general psychiatry. Dr. Sandoval also currently serves as rector of Saint Simon’s Episcopal Church, a bicultural congregation in southwest Miami. His medical training adds a unique complement to his vocation as a priest.
Email LoisLois Thompson is originally from Pennsylvania. After graduating from Swarthmore College she moved to Colombia with her husband and had two children, and a very active life in the Episcopal Church. She went to Princeton Seminary and graduated in 2001, was ordained to the priesthood in 2005 and worked as the first chaplain at the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center. She recently retired and continues to assist at Saint Simon's.

Jose was born in Caracas Venezuela, and speaks English, Spanish and Italian. He has a B.S. in Communication and Advertising, and also has a diploma in Business Administration, Public and Industrial Relations. He took Photography and Cinematography classes with the prestigious Cuban movie director Enrique Pineda Barnet. After graduating from the I.U.N.P. in Valencia Venezuela, he worked as a Media Manager Assistant in the prestigious advertising agency, DDB Valencia. For personal reasons he decided to emigrate to the United States in 2001, and joined Saint Simon’s Episcopal Church as Parish Administrator in 2003.
Matthew Hoelscher has deep ties to the Episcopal church since birth. His biological grandfather was a priest in the Midwest, United States. He has served on the vestry since 2009. He has chaired the stewardship committee and serves as photographer. Matthew is the owner of Miami Executive Coach, an international private coaching practice based in Miami. He also delivers keynote speeches and motivational workshops. Matthew passions include scuba diving, photography and reading 1 book per week. He is happily married with fraternal twin boys.
